Student-Leaders experience a unique and immediate mantel of responsibility thrust upon them. This can be an incredibly difficult transition because people are always watching. When you are a student-leader, everything you do is recognized and associated as “things (insert your position here) do”-Good or Bad. Part of that new mantel of responsibility is that those associations are placed on your teammates and what you represent. You can ignore that fact, allow it to work against you and your group, or take full advantage of it.
Don’t care about the influence you have as a leader? Start. If you aren’t actively supporting your team or your position’s purpose then you are on a fast-track to a slow progression for your career. Want the fast-track towards growing your career? Add value in everything you do.
